( The Wilderness Church in Nellim )

The Nellim Wilderness Church is a Skolt Orthodox church built in 1987 out of Lappish logs and its look is based partly on the old Petsamo convent church. The church was designed by Seppo Latvala and is dedicated to the memory of Trifon Petsamolainen, a Russian Eastern Orthodox monk who led an ascetic life on the Kola Peninsula and in Lapland in the 16th century.

The church can be viewed during official visiting hours and Evangelical-Lutheran services are held in the church as well.
